BeHir SS || Inner Turmoil | Naagin 3 | Mahir | Bela

Part 1

Mahir's words were still ringing in her ears.
"You and Yuvi are exactly the same!"
"I don't want to see your face anymore!"
"Get away from me and go to your Yuvi!"
Bela couldn't believe all this was really happening to her. Where the hell did Yuvi come back from? Wasn't he supposed to be dead? This time, it was definitely not Vish who came in Yuvi's avatar because she was as confused as I was. How did she come, from nearly confessing her love to Mahir, to having to prove she didn't love his brother instead?!
"But I am also to blame in all this!" she thought. "Why did I have to confuse this jerk with Mahir ji? I should have made sure it's really him. Or maybe wait till we were in the safeness of our room. And Yuvi?! Is he, or whoever is pretending to be him, delusional or what? Why the hell am I supposed to be going to the guy who left me on my wedding day?! I mean no one knows he's actually dead right? Are they all mental? I always knew this whole family wasn't straight in their heads. God! I'll go mad if this continues . As if, I wasn't already confused about my feelings, another confusion came up. Great Bela! Now you're thinking as if there's another person in this head of yours, listening to you. Uff!"
Everyone in the family was somehow tensed since Yuvi's arrival. Except Paulomi, but that wasn't suprising.
Mahir, on his side, was really hurt. But he was also very confused. He'd been doing all he could to avoid Bela this past week. He'd worked till late in the office and leaved really early in the morning, so he wouldn't have to face her. Or Yuvi. But as astounding as this could be, Yuvi had once again disappear!
Mahir was totally lost!
"What could be the meaning of all this? It's as if he came, just to put a mess in my somehow, quiet life! What was Bela thinking yet again about his disappearance? Did she miss him?"
Mahir couldn't concentrate on the file in front of him and was lost in his thoughts. "Bela, Bela, Bela. How could she do this to me? I thought she was getting used to me being in her life. But no! She runs into his arms as soon as he comes back as if she was waiting for this!"
Mahir clenched his fist, feeling himself boil yet again but refused to go there. He wasn't the one to lose his temper easily and had taken quite some times to cool down. And now that he was calm, he couldn't help but replay all of it in his head. How Bela had been begging for him to listen to her. He was in such a rage at that moment, he had refused to do so. Should he have? And what was that, she wanted to say earlier, in private?"
He sighed in frustration. As much as he wanted not to, he had to give her the benefit of the doubt, because he had learned to know her no matter the circumstances of their wedding. He knew she wanted things to work out between them, and she herself had told him Yuvi was nothing to her , that they were never a thing. Maybe he had let his anger take over and had been blinded. It was time to confront her, to make things clear whether it is for the best or for the worst.

Part 2

Bela was pacing in their room. She was on the edge. It's been a week already since Yuvi had created chaos in her already hectic life and since then, Mahir was avoiding her. He had relayed news through Sumi Ma that he was overloaded with work but everyone knew very well the real cause of his repeated absences. She had also heard from Sumi ma that Yuvi had disappeared again and this, did make her confused as hell!
"Who could this be? This must be someone who also knows that Yuvi is dead! Vish would never betray me, so maybe someone saw her killing him that night? After all, this is impossible for him to be alive. But yet, why was someone using Yuvi's face? Was the purpose of this, to create a misunderstanding between Mahirji and I?" Bela couldn't help thinking again and again.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the opening door. She was immediately on her guard but was relieved to see that it was Mahir who had just arrived! "Finally!, she thought, he decided to come home early today. Maybe I have a chance now to explain everything, and he is ready to listen to me."

"Mahirji!" she started,

"You're here! I've been wanting to talk to you all these days. I hav...."

"There's nothing more left for me to listen, Bela. I've heard it all on that day itself." He interrupted.

"Please Mahirji. Listen to me. I need to tel.."

"No Bela, he screamed. I don't want to listen to your lies anymore. I've had enough of it. You've been deceiving me since the start of this relationship. I was such a fool blinded by you that I refused to see clearly in your games."

"What are you talking about Mahirji? There's nothing like th.."
"Stop it. Everytime you open your mouth, there're only lies which come out. You are indeed like Yuvi. You play with people's emotions and you don't care about their feelings."
Bela covered her tears-stricken face with her hands because she was hurt by Mahir's words. She was also hurt because she knew in what state he was and what was going on in his mind.

"Mahirji, you need to let me speak. Listen to."
But she was again interrupted by Mahir who was letting out all his frustrations as if he was possessed.
"I.said.I.won't.listen.to.anything.else. Bela! I am so disgusted to just say your name now. You've shown how cheapless you could be. I had promised you, Bela, I would always take care of you and be there for you. And what did you do? Do back to your lover who left you on your wedding day as soon as he comes back. I should be thankful to you though, for showing me your true character. I won't let myself be lured by such a gold digger like you anymore. I want you out of my house and out of my life. Go away from me. Go away from here and go be with him. Maybe that's why he's gone away already, because this time you know where to find him."
Mahir stormed out of the room after pouring all he had on his heart, leaving Bela shattered. She sank on the floor, shocked and shaken by his words.
"Is this really what he thinks me? Is this how he sees me? I thought he knew me. How can he... How dare he think something like that about me? I know he is angry but how can he..?"she sobbed.

Bela was completely devastated by what she heard from Mahirji. She couldn't believe her ears. Mahir who was normally soft and kind, had been so harsh and was unrecognizable.

Even though she could feel her heart tearing apart, she wasn't going to keep mum anymore and let anyone question her character. She got up and wiped her tears decisively.
"Fine Mahirji. If you went me gone, then I'll go away. If you want me to be far from you, so be it. But you're definitely a fool if you think I can be with someone else, other than you now." Determined, she went to her cupboard, so she could pack her suitcase.

Part 3

Bela had almost finished packing her luggage, tears still flowing down her cheeks. She was determined like never before to get away from here, at least for some days. Deep inside, she was hurt because she didn't want be away from her Mahirji.

"Don't you dare think about this again, Bela. He clearly told you he didn't want you in his life anymore." She thought.
"But I should at least inform Sumi ma, I am going away. Of course, I'm sure she'll be more than happy about this decision of mine right now. I just don't want them to worry about me thinking I've gone missing."

With this thought in mind, she stepped out of her room to go find Sumi ma and inform about the latest happenings. She was absolutely lost in her mind; she hadn't noticed Sumi ma was talking on the phone, shaking. Hearing her loud screams, she halted in her way on the stairs and listened, confused.

"Mahir! Mahir beta! Please answer me! What was this noise? Mahir!" Sumitra sank to the floor, the phone stuck to her ear. "Andy! My son! My Mahir! He is in some trouble. I'm sure he met with some accident. It is all my fault. I shouldn't have called him knowing he is driving to come back home from office."

While Sumitra was inconsolable, Bela was panicked stricken too.
"What does she mean accident? Driving home? But he was here few moments ago! What does this mean?"
Bela were having thousands thoughts at the same time. Soon, realization dawned upon her!

"It wasn't him!, she thought aloud, it wasn't Mahirji who talked to me! He didn't utter those craps to me. He wouldn't even think about it. Oh Bela! You are so naïve, why didn't you think about this before. This must be someone who came up as Mahirji to create more misunderstandings!"

As soon as her thoughts were cleared, and she was sure on this point, she was on her feet , with one thing in mind: save Mahirji! In a blink of an eye, she was out of the house and on her way to rescue him. She knew he always took the same path to go back and forth from work and home. She was absolutely sure he was somewhere along this road.

On this other side, Mahir was annoyed. He had planned on going home earlier than these past days but he once again had a work-related impediment. Now it was already late and he wanted to get home and face Bela as soon as possible. He didn't know yet how to start this conversation with her and he hoped he'd know what to say when in front of her. He was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice the warning sign indicating the road was blocked ahead. Caught of guard at the last minute, he did the best he could to avoid it . But in the process, he lost control and hit the trees boarding the road. The car hood crashed against a big trunk and broken glasses flew everywhere. Mahir was shaken by this incident and could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He rested his head against his car seat and took a deep breath to calm down. With his eyes closed, several thoughts went through his mind, with the first one of Bela. He knew he love her and he wanted her, but what if that wasn't what she wanted? He'd been asking for a sign since the last week, what if this accident was one? Especially on his way to go talk to her? He was frustrated and he knew he couldn't go face her in that situation.
That's how Bela found him when she arrived there, Mahir still in his car with his eyes closed, and she feared the worst. She rushed to the car, opened the door and shook him frantically.
''Mahirji! Mahirji! Open your eyes!, Bela shouted while tapping his cheek. Oh my god, Mahirji!''

Mahir, startled by her sudden presence, sat erected and looked at her with a puzzled face, startling Bela in the process.
''Bela? What are you doing?''he asked while getting out of the car. ''How did you get here? What happe...''

He couldn't finish his sentence as Bela launched herself towards him and hugged him tightly. Mahir who couldn't understand what was happening, was shocked him her act.
"I thought I lost you Mahirji. I thought something bad happened to you." Bela sobbed.

''I'm fine Bela. It's only some cuts from the broken glasses. It's only some minor injuries. Don't cry.'' Mahir hugged her while reassuringly her.
"No let me. You can't stop me today. You can't take this right from me. I've barely seen you in a week and that's how I find you today."

Mahir was overwhelmed. He hadn't expect this. He was both puzzled and surprised by the behaviour. He knew she cared for him. She'd shown him several times before, but he hadn't expected it to be at that extent. ''Could this be the sign I was waiting for ?'', He couldn't help but hoped.

"Bela, come let's go home. We'll take your car and we'll see for mine later. Come on let's go.''

Bela looked at him with tears in her eyes and nodded. While heading to her car, both of them were surprised to see that Sumitra, Andy and Yuvi were coming towards them.
"Mahir beta! Are you ok?"

"Ma, I'm fine. What was the need for all of you to come here? Let's go home now. "

"Right bro. You look awful. Let's go get you clean. Bela, come. I'll drive your car. Mahir you go with mom and dad."

''Yuvi, where were you lost again? It's been a week since we haven't seen you at all. Now where do you come from?''

"Oh come on bro. Let's talk at home. Come on Bela, let's go."

Mahir clenched his fist, but decided against saying anything else. He started walking towards the car, when a hand on his arm, stopped him in his tracks.
''Mahirji, wait. Yuvi I can drive and Mahirji is coming with me. You go back home the same way you came here. I'm not letting Mahirji go out of my sight today.'' Bela said while looking at her husband. With this, she grabbed her hand and guided him carefully to their car.
Mahir was totally shocked by her boldness, but he was also pleased because for once, she took a stand for him against Yuvi. With a smile on his face, he let her take the lead just as he had once suggested.

Part 4

Arriving home, Bela helped him out of the car and up the stairs, despite his protests. She knew he was barely hurt but she wanted to be close to him in a moment like this. Right now she was in the kitchen, while he was showering, heating some food for him.
Bela was feeling guilty. She felt all this was happening because of her. Hadn't she confessed to the wrong person, Mahir would have known her feelings by now. She was glad his parents and brother weren't yet. Surely Sumi ma wanted to get some medicines on her way.
Tray in hand, she went up their room and halted at the door. She saw Mahirji struggling to put on his shirt and concluded he was hurt somewhere else but he hadn't mention it.
“Mahirji! What are you doing? You should have call me if you needed help.” she said rushing to him, after putting the tray on the table.

She helped with his shirt and pushed him towards the bed for him to rest.
‘‘Bela, I'm fine. I can walk and put my shirt my myself.’’

“Yes. I can see how well you can. You're hurt somewhere else right? It's not only the little cuts like you said. Let me see. ”
Mahir was astonished. He could see the tears in her eyes and genuine worry foe him on her face. This melted his heart. He was sure he would have some real reasons for her action last week. He was about to ask her about it, when his parents and brother rushed into the room.
“Oh god. Aren't they going to leave us alone or what?” he thought to himself.
‘‘Mahir beta! Is that true? Are you hurt somewhere else? Let me see. Bela can please move away? ’’
Mahir was appalled by the way his mother talked to Bela. He looked up to Bela and saw her retreating next to the couch. He caught her eyes and could clearly see she didn't want him to say anything. He sighed.
“Ma. I'm fine. Yes I've been hurt on my left right, but just a minor cut. I've put some antiseptic on it. It will be gone in a few days. I just want to take a rest now.”

Mahir just wanted them to go away so he could talk to his wife but everyone was hell bent on making it difficult for him and it was getting on his nerves.
“Ok, beta. You lie down and sleep a little. Bela you sleep in the guestroom today. I'll look after him tonight.”

Both Bela and Mahir were shocked by her statement but before they could react, Yuvi cut in.
“Yes mom. Bro definitely needs rest and Bela too. Come bela Bela baby, let me drop you to your room.”

Bela boiled hearing and she would see Mahirji clench his  fists.  She decided it was time for her to react.
‘‘Yuvi, I am not your baby and this is my room. Ma, I'm staying right here and I can take care of him. ’’

Yuvi was infuriated and Sumitra was shocked to see Bela defying her, so she insisted for her to be away from her son.
‘‘Fine. If needed to, I'll go away. But I'll do so only if Mahirji asks me to.‘’
‘‘Bela..’’ Yuvi started, but Bela interrupted as she didn't want to listen to his nonsense anymore.
‘‘Yuvi, I'm talking to my husband so you better stay out of it, ’’ she snapped.

Mahir was pleasantly shocked! So she did want to stay with him then?
“Ma. Bela is right. This is her room as much as it is mine. It's her right to be here.‘’

Bela was pleased he was on his side and Mahir could see relief in her eyes.
Before either Yuvi or Sumitra could protest, Andy ordered them to leave the couple alone.
Once the door was closed behind them, they both sighed with relief. Bela sat on the couch and looked at Mahirji. Their eyes locked a few seconds before they burst out laughing. After a while, Bela's laughter turned into sobs and she covered her face with her hands, ashamed Mahirji was saying her in this state.
Mahir had not expected this, but he understood it was her way to let go of all the tensions of the last hours. He got off the bed and went next to her, on the couch.
“Bela. It's all over now. I'm fine. Both ma and Yuvi have gone now. You won't have to tale out your claws anymore. ”

This made Bela smile. She looked at him, her eyes full of tears.
‘‘I'm sorry.’’

‘‘What for?’’Mahir asked while wiping her tears.
‘‘For everything. For today and for what happened last week. You've been avoiding your own house because of me for days.’’

“Our house, Bela. It's yours as much as it is mine. Whatever happened today wasn't your fault. I was distracted and I didn't see the warning sign. Well yes you would say, I was distracted because of you, which is a fact but that's for me to see by what I want to be distracted or not. And why would you be sorry for loving someone? I had told you right, I'd go away when Yuvi is back if you want to and now I know what you want. Dont worry, I'll take care of everything. ”
Mahir's heart ached to say words. He didn't actually meant it. He had seen how she had reacted in Yuvi's presence. He wasn't that naive after all. He just need her to say it out loud and to give him somw explanations. They both knew he deserved this.
He could see the anger back in her eyes and knew what was coming at him. He almost felt grateful for this.
‘‘What do you mean by you'll take care of it? Do you mean divorce?’’ Bela asked getting up and striding towards the door, her back facing him. ‘‘So you want to get divorce and you won't even hear what I have to say? Will you let this, ruin our relationship? How can you believe I'll go back to this jerk you have as a brother?’’

Bela turned to give him another piece of her mind and crashed into him. She hadn't heard him approach her. He pinned her, between in his arms, to the door. Bela was startled by his actions.

‘‘I'm believing what I heard Bela. I didn't want to hear you at that time because I was angry, which is totally fair from me but not from you. This, like you are referring it, was and is still very painful to me. So you want to give an explanations? Go on. I'm all ears.’’

He could feel her shaking and he didn't know either it was from his words or his closeness.
‘‘I don't … I know … I  ’’

He could see she didn'tknow how to start but he needed her to tell him today.
‘‘Take all the time you need. We're definitely having this discussion today. ’’ Mahir told her, not moving an  inch. Bela took a deep breath and got started.

‘‘I don't love Yuvi. I know how it sounded like last week, but I can assure you I don't love him. You don't what I want, because I myself didn't know until recently. And I think that's why I am angry. That day last week, I've been wanting to talk to you all day, but all you did, was avoid me or we would get interrupted. So when I saw someone in the living room, I assume it was you because he was wearing a black suit like you did.’’ Bela explained in a go. ‘‘All what I said that day, was meant for you,’’she said in almost a whisper. ‘‘You wanted me to take the lead and all I was trying, were being  lost in vain. I decided it was time to tell you my feelings directly. ’’ She leant her head against the door, closing her eyes, almost afraid to hear his answer.
‘‘So you don't love Yuvi? You don't want to be with him?’’

Bela's eyes snapped open and looked at him. She shook her head, not trusting her voice anymore.
Mahir got even closer to her and was guaranteed by now, it was his closeness that made her quiver.

‘‘Tell me now, then.’’
She looked at him with widened eyes and he knew she understood what he meant.
She could see the way he was looking and she was afraid her legs would soon give up on her. They stared at each other for what looked like an eternity, before she plucked up courage.
‘‘I love you Mahirji.’’
The wide smile on his face made her dauntless to pursue.
‘‘It's been you since the start Mahirji and no one else. I lo..’’

She never got to finish sentence, for Mahir pressed her against the door, grabbed her head with both hands and planted his lips on hers, kissing her with all his might, as if his life depended on it.
